My love of public compliments started in 2004 when my sister & I held a tag sale to empty our father’s house. Our marketing included signs that read “stop by for a compliment” & people actually showed up to the tag sale asking for compliments.

Fast forward ten years, when I combined my love of walking with complimenting strangers on the streets. Everyone who knows me will attest to the fact that I love walking and exploring cities on foot. It’s through these walking compliments that I realized how much I can brighten someone’s day.

That is where my idea for The Compliment Squad came from; where I compliment someone with the hope that they will pass the compliment on, creating a ripple effect of kindness & smiles, hopefully creating connections in a world that sometimes feels disconnected.
